If the butter is not room temperature, microwave it for 15 seconds (enough to soften but not to melt.)
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and beat until smooth.
Mix dry ingredients. Stir them into wet and beat until smooth.
Add chips and mix thoroughly.
Chill 1 hour before baking to help the cookies stay thick instead of melting flat. Then make balls of about 1 inch diameter and put on parchment paper.
Bake at 350*F for about 10 minutes, or until just set.
